I experienced a unique journey to the summit of Cerro Frias, ideal for lovers of trekking, history and Patagonian adventure. We set off from the historical center of the estancia and, after an initial walk, we arrived at Refugio Leñador, a place full of history where the old laborers used to collect firewood at the beginning of the 20th century.
From there, the trail plunges us into the heart of the lenga forest. After a challenging ascent of an hour and a half, the landscape opens up to give us impressive views of the Cordón de los Cristales, the valley of the Centinela River and, weather permitting, the majestic Torres del Paine. We reach 1,095 meters above sea level, where a 360° panoramic view leaves us speechless: Lake Argentino, the peaks of the Andes, the Cordón de los Baguales and, if we are lucky, the imposing Fitz Roy on the horizon.
The descent follows alternative trails that allow us to discover new views of the hill and stop at historic shelters to enjoy a Patagonian meal and recover energy. At the end, a traditional snack in the ranch house closes this epic day with all the flavor of Patagonia.

Viví la experiencia de llegar a lo más alto del Cerro Frías en una travesía pensada para verdaderos amantes del trekking y la aventura. Partimos desde el casco histórico de la estancia y, tras una primera hora de caminata, alcanzamos el Refugio Leñador, utilizado a principios del siglo XX por los peones para recolectar leña. Allí tomamos un breve descanso antes de enfrentar las pendientes más exigentes.
El camino nos lleva al corazón del bosque de lenga, donde un ascenso intenso de 1 hora y media nos regala las primeras vistas espectaculares: el Cordón de los Cristales, el valle del río Centinela y, en días despejados, las imponentes Torres del Paine. Desde una llanura a 800 m de altura, iniciaremos el último tramo, el másdesafiante, hasta conquistar la cima a 1.095 metros s.n.m.
En la cumbre, una panorámica 360° nos dejará sin aliento: el Lago Argentino en toda su
extensión, picos de la Cordillera de los Andes, el Cordón de los Baguales y, si la suerte acompaña, hasta el majestuoso Cerro Fitz Roy.
El descenso incluye paradas en refugios históricos para descansar, hidratarse y disfrutar una vianda patagónica, recorriendo senderos alternativos que muestran otras perspectivas del cerro. Al regresar al casco de la estancia, una merienda deliciosa será el broche de oro para esta jornada épica
